Why have payment received email notifications stopped?

If you receive a notification that payment received email notifications have stopped, this means that Mollie has permanently stopped sending individual email alerts for incoming payments to your account. Your payments continue to process securely as normal—this change only affects how you are notified about them.

What you need to know in advance

  • Your payments are completely unaffected: Money continues to process securely and settle into your balance as normal.
  • This change applies to all Mollie accounts: Individual transaction emails have been permanently turned off platform-wide and cannot be reactivated by our support team.
  • Email is not built for payment tracking: We are phasing out payment received emails to prevent missed notifications and point you toward tools built for scale.

Why did Mollie make this change?

Email providers are not designed to handle high volumes of automated payment alerts.

When hundreds of identical transaction emails are sent out, receiving mailbox providers frequently rate-limit, delay, or route them directly to spam. This means emails often arrive late or not at all, making them an unreliable source of truth for order fulfilment or payment verification.

To ensure you always see accurate, real-time transaction updates, we have phased out these emails in favour of live dashboard tools, multi-user permissions, and automated webhooks.

Can I turn these email notifications back on?

No. This update applies universally across every Mollie account without exception. Because the functionality has been deprecated across our platform, our support heroes cannot reactivate these notifications for your account.

What to use instead to track payments

Depending on how your business operates, you can choose from several real-time, scalable alternatives:

  1. Mollie Dashboard and mobile app -  Check successful, pending, and failed transactions in real time without waiting for an inbox refresh.
    1) View live payment activity anytime on your desktop via the Mollie Dashboard.
    2) Monitor incoming sales on the go using the Mollie App for iOS and Android.
  2. Mollie Teams (multi-user access) - If your sales, support, or fulfilment teams previously relied on a shared mailbox or forwarded emails:
    1) Invite team members to your Mollie account under Settings > Team.
    2) Give them view-only permissions so they can verify payments straight from the source of truth, without access to payouts, bank account details, or account settings.  Learn more about teams.
  3. Settlements and data exports - If your finance team relied on individual transaction emails for daily reconciliations or bookkeeping.
    1) Export your transactions directly from your dashboard as a CSV or PDF.
    2) Download your settlement summaries periodically to reconcile payments in batches instead of sorting through individual emails.
  4. No-code automations (Slack or Microsoft Team) - If your team still wants an instant ping when a sale closes:
    1) Connect Mollie to workflow tools like Zapier, Make, or Power Automate.
    2) Automatically trigger a message to a shared #payments channel whenever a payment is completed or fails.
  5. Webhooks and API - For automated order processing directly inside your warehouse software, ERP, or CRM:
    1) Subscribe to payment events using Mollie Webhooks.
    2) Your servers will receive instant, programmatic status updates the exact moment an order status changes.
