How do I enable or disable multi-factor authentication (MFA)?

Multi-factor authentication is an extra layer of security when you log in to your Mollie account. You can choose to use the Mollie mobile app or any Authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator) to verify your identity every time you log in.

What you need to know in advance

  • Each team member on an account can set up MFA.
  • Account owners and Administrators must have multi-factor authentication enabled to manage accounts. Some actions require the user to perform a multi-factor authentication check.
  • We advise that you enable push notifications for the best experience when using the Mollie App as a multi-factor authentication (MFA) device.

Enabling multi-factor authentication

  1. In your Mollie Dashboard, click on the icon in the top left corner.
  2. Go to Settings > Security.
  3. Under Multi-factor authentication > Available methods, enable a multi-factor authentication method.
  4. [Optional] Install the Mollie App for faster and more secure login.
  5. Perform multi-factor authentication to confirm.

Where do I find backup codes?

To find your multi-factor authentication backup codes:

  1. In your Mollie Dashboard, click on the icon in the top left corner.
  2. Go to Settings > Security.
  3. Under Backup codes, click on Show codes

Disabling multi-factor authentication

  1. In your Mollie Dashboard, click on the icon in the top left corner.
  2. Go to Settings > Security.
  3. Click on the Remove method icon next to an authentication method.
    • If you remove all authentication methods, MFA will be disabled on your account entirely. You may not be able to access some features when MFA is disabled.
  4. Enter your password to confirm.

Can not access your MFA?

If you can not access your authenticator anymore (in case of lost devices, changing numbers etc), you can reset your MFA:

  1. In the Two-Step Authentication pop-up click Try it another way.
  2. In the next window, select Get help.
  3. Submit the Reset request confirmation

Once you have entered all the details, you must confirm the request via your email. As soon as the 2FA has been reset, you can log in and set up a new authentication.
