When a customer pays, the money doesn't go straight to your bank account. It moves through two stages first: from pending balance to available balance, and then to your bank account via a payout. How quickly that happens depends on the payment method used for the transaction
What you need to know in advance
- Changing your payout frequency (every business day, weekly, monthly) does not affect how quickly payments become available. Your payout frequency only controls when your available balance is sent to your bank — not how fast payments move from pending to available.
- Payments received on weekends are processed on the next business day, unless you are using a Mollie Business Account and opted for 'every day' as payouts frequency.
How payments reach your balance
When a payment is received, the amount sits in pending balance. This is the settlement period Mollie applies per payment method. Once the settlement period ends, the amount moves to your available balance. At that point, Mollie will transfer it to your bank account according to your payout schedule.
You can also receive a payout with only payments of one specific date. When you activate Revenue Day Payouts, the settlement timelines below are harmonised across all the payment methods you have enabled. Only a selection of payment methods are eligible for this.

Klarna: authorized is not the same as paid
With Klarna, the settlement period only starts after the payment is captured — this is when you confirm that you've shipped the order. While a payment has the status Authorized, the settlement period hasn't started yet.
Once you ship the order and the status changes to Captured, the 5-business-day settlement period begins. Only then does the amount move toward your available balance.
From available balance to your bank account
Once an amount is in your available balance, it's included in your next payout. Payouts are sent via SEPA Credit Transfer and arrive at your bank within 1–2 hours.
Longer settlement times on your account
In some cases, Mollie applies a longer settlement period than the standard times listed above. This is a risk management measure that varies per account. If this applies to you, payments will remain in pending balance for longer than the default values shown above.
If you have questions about why a longer period is in place or when it will be reviewed, contact our support team. They can look into this with the relevant department.
Checking why your money hasn't arrived yet
- In your Mollie Dashboard, go to Reports > Balance.
- Check whether the amount is shown under Pending balance or Available balance.
- If the amount is pending: the settlement period is still running. Use the table above to check when it'll become available. This is also shown in the transaction details.
- If the amount is available: it will be paid out at the first payout instance. This is shown in the payout estimator on Reports > Balance.
- If the payout has already been sent but the money isn't in your bank yet: read How do I find a payout on my bank statement?
