What identity documents are accepted?

When you create a Mollie account, we need to verify an identity document (ID) from the legal representative(s) of your organisation. Accepted documents include:

  • Passport: the front of the page with personal information.
  • Residence permit: the front and back of the card.
  • Driving license*: the front and back of the card.

*only acceptable for the following countries: the Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Slovenia and Sweden.

For optimal clarity, this document should be a clear photo of the original physical document taken with a smartphone's camera. Scanned copies or photos of a document displayed on a computer screen are harder for us to analyze and may lead to the rejection of the document.

Requirements of your ID

Your ID needs to meet the following requirements:

  • The document is valid and not expired.
  • The front and back have been uploaded.
  • It’s a pdf, jpg, or png file.
  • The document is uploaded in full colour and not in black and white.
  • File size must not exceed 10 MB.
  • The maximum resolution of the file is 64MBPx.
  • The text is readable.
  • All corners are visible.
  • The photo is well-lit without reflections or pixelation.
  • Scans or print copies of the document are not accepted.
  • Do not cover the BSN/SSN information on the document, this is done automatically when the ID is uploaded.

Selfie

In addition to an identity document, there is a chance that we will also ask to add a selfie. We then compare this selfie with the previously added identity document (ID) to verify the identity of the legal representative.

The selfie can be added immediately after adding the identity document. When taking a selfie, it is important that the face is well-lit. Furthermore, you will need to move your  head to the left and right during this process. The full instructions are visible on the screen.
