How do dispute notifications work?

Beta: The Mollie Dispute Portal is currently in beta phase for a select number of customers. To request access, contact your CSM or Mollie Support and include your merchant account details.

When the Mollie Dispute Portal is enabled for your account, the previous per-method dispute notifications are turned off and replaced by Mollie notifications. You control where and how you receive them.

What you need to know in advance

  • Notifications go to team members with DisputeWrite permission only — that's the Owner, Admin, Finance, and Support roles. Users with Developer or Viewer roles do not receive dispute notifications, to avoid spamming people who can't take action.
  • There are multiple notification channels you can be notified by: EmailPush (Mollie mobile app), Inbox Notifications (in the dashboard), and the Task Center.
  • You can toggle Email and Push on or off per event. The Inbox is always on — it acts as a log that the message was sent and cannot be turned off.

What you're notified about

At go-live, the Dispute Portal sends four notification types:

  • New Dispute:  A new dispute has been opened and is in status Response required.
  • Urgent reminder: Sent 3 days before the response due date and again 1 day before, so you don't miss the deadline.
  • Dispute Lost: Informs you of the final outcome and the financial impact (the disputed amount stays with the customer and the chargeback fee applies).
  • Dispute Won / Dispute under Review: Informational updates: your defense has been received and is being reviewed, or the dispute has been decided in your favour.

Default notifications

The table below shows which channels are on by default for each notification type. Defaults are aimed at making sure action-required messages reach you reliably, while purely informational ones stay in-product.

Notification type Email Push Inbox Task Center
New Dispute
Urgent reminder (3 days / 1 day)
Dispute Lost
Dispute Won / Dispute under Review

You can change any of the defaults in your notification settings. Task Center settings are handled separately, see Can I ignore or remove task notifications manually myself? section below for further details.

Manage your notification settings

Follow these steps to control which dispute events you receive on which channels:

  1. Go to https://my.mollie.com/dashboard/{org-id}/settings/notifications.
  2. Replace {org-id} with your own Mollie ID (visible in the avatar menu).
  3. Toggle the dispute notifications you want to receive on or off per channel.

Good to know: You can toggle Email and Push notifications, but Inbox notifications are always on. The Inbox acts as a log that the message was sent. Push notifications can only be handled from within the mobile app settings.

Dispute events that need your action also create a task in the Task Center. To manage task settings, see How do I manage my task settings?.
