First off, a 'consumer' must be created. To do this, you can use the Customers API. Next, you create a 'first' payment for this consumer. This first payment can be executed via a number of payment methods:
For automatic direct debits, these are the available first payment methods:
- SOFORT banking
- KBC/CBC Payment Button
- ING Home'Pay
For recurring credit card transactions, credit card is the only first payment method.
So make sure that one of these payment methods (SEPA Direct Debit) or credit card is activated in your account. Is this not yet the case? Then you can request them via the website profiles page in your account.
When this (first) payment is successful, Mollie stores the payment data in a mandate. This is the confirmation from your consumer that you are entitled to direct debit the follow-up payments. You can now carry out 'recurring' payments and/or create automatic Subscriptions for the consumer.
€0 mandate credit card
For credit card payments you can create a zero amount payment, which means no money will be debited from the card when doing the first payment.
