Giropay Depreciation FAQ

Paydirekt, the owner of Giropay, has decided to deprecate Giropay. On Monday, 24 June 2024, Mollie was informed that Giropay would cease onboarding new merchants and processing new payments after 30 June 2024. Unfortunately, Mollie has no control over this decision.

Consequently, Mollie users should take the following actions to prepare for Giropay's discontinuation by Sunday, 30 June 2024:

Integration Changes:

  • General: Plan to stop accepting Giropay as a payment method by June 30, 2024.
  • Hosted Checkout: No action is needed. Mollie will automatically remove Giropay as a payment option by 30 June.
  • Plug-in Integration: Disable "Giropay" in your integration settings to remove it as an option in the Checkout. If you do not take action before 30 June you will receive errors.
  • Custom API Integration: Remove "Giropay" from the payment options in your checkout system. If you do not take action before 30 June you will receive errors.

Messaging:

  • Eliminate any mentions of Giropay as an accepted payment method across your website and support materials, if applicable.

Refunds

Refunds will continue to be processed as usual beyond June 30.
