You can create additional balances on your Mollie account to manage different revenue streams, sales channels, or countries separately. Each balance has its own bank account, payout settings, and reports.
Additional balances in the same currency as your primary balance are covered here. For payouts in a different currency, read How do I set up multi-currency payouts?
You can only create additional balances for business activities registered under the same business registration number. If you have businesses registered with different registration numbers, you'll need a separate Mollie account for each.
What you can do with additional balances
- View payments and payouts for each business activity separately
- Customise payout settings per balance
- Connect each balance to a different bank account
- Generate separate reports per balance for bookkeeping
Examples: sell in multiple countries (NL and BE), run both an online store and physical terminals, or manage multiple webshops.
Setting up an additional balance
Step 1 — Create a profile and link a new balance
Each balance is linked to a profile. You can create a new profile or use an existing one.
- In your Mollie Dashboard, click your organisation name in the top left corner.
- Go to Settings > Profiles.
- Click + Create profile to add a new one, or select an existing profile.
- Under Linked balance, select + Add balance from the dropdown (or click the here link if you selected an existing profile).
- Give the new balance a name and click Add, then click Save.
Choose a profile name that's distinct from your other profiles and reflects the balance's purpose. Your customers may see this name on payment pages and bank statements.
Step 2 — Add a bank account to the new balance
- In your Dashboard, go to Reports > Balances and click on your new balance.
- Click Select a bank account.
- Choose an existing verified bank account from the dropdown, or follow the steps to add and verify a new one. Payouts will only be enabled once the bank account is verified.
Step 3 — Connect your sales channel with the new API key
Each balance has its own API key. You need to use the new balance's API key in the sales channel that should send payments to it.
- In your Dashboard, go to Reports > Balances and click on your new balance.
- Click Use your API key to find the API key for this balance.
- In your webshop, checkout, or POS terminal, replace the existing API key with the new one. See the developer documentation for integration instructions.
