The balance reserve allows you to retain funds on your balance to be used for refunds. By setting a reserve, you don’t have to do a top-up or wait on new payments coming in, meaning that you can provide a better service to your customers.
Setting a balance reserve amount
- In your Mollie Dashboard, click on your organisation name in the top left corner.
- Go to Organisation settings > Payouts.
- Under Balance reserve amount, add the amount you want to keep on your balance.
At the moment of each payout, your reserve amount will be deducted from the payout amount. For example:
Available balance: €2.000
Balance reserve: €500
Payout amount: €1.500 (€2.000 - €500)
After the payout, your available balance will be €500. If in the example above your available balance is less than your balance reserve amount at the moment of payout, the payout will be skipped. You can change or remove the balance reserve amount at any time.
Recommended reserve amount
When you have encountered refund queues in the past, a recommended balance reserve amount is displayed below the input field. This recommended amount is calculated based on your historical refund data and ensures you set aside the right amount to prevent future refund queues. To show the most relevant recommendation, we are frequently updating the shown amount to make sure you’re not reserving more funds than necessary.
