The SEPA Direct Debit product includes a number of key moments. In order to provide better insight in the course of a transaction, we explain in this article what the timeline looks like, and at which moments something happens or should happen.
Please take note: Since 22 November 2016, payments are being processed quicker. Payments submitted before 08:00 are carried out the next working day. Unfortunately, this is not always guaranteed, but is true in most cases. When you create a direct debit payment after 08.00, it will be debited 2 working days later.
|14 days before the direct debit||Let your customer know what amount you are going to direct debit and when. You can do this via e-mail, text message, letter, etc.|
|1 working day before the direct debit||Create the payment. Payments submitted before 08:00 are processed the same day.|

|5 working days after the direct debit||From the day of the direct debit up until now, a transaction can fail.|
|10 working days after the direct debit||Transaction is paid out today (standard).|
|8 weeks after the direct debit||From the day of the direct debit up until now, a transaction can be still be reversed by the account holder.|
|13 months after the direct debit||The last moment at which an Unauthorized Direct Debit Report can be filed.|
|36 months after the direct debit||An authorization that has not been used for 36 months can no longer be used.|
