What additional information does Mollie need to open a Mollie Business Account?

What you need to know in advance

Everyone who wants to make use of Mollie’s payment services, needs to sign up with Mollie and provide the required information, see how do I create an account?

If you want to open a Mollie business account, you need to follow a couple of extra steps in addition to the standard steps for payment services. The extra information that is required, will be described below.

What extra information do I need to provide?

Step 1. Tell us who you are and verify your identity

Confirm if you are one of the stakeholder(s) in the list or if you are someone else. If you are someone else, you need to enter your personal details.

Next to that, you need to verify your own identity by uploading a photo of your ID document and recording a video of your face. This way we can verify that the one on the ID document is really the one doing the business account application.

Step 2. Enter your company tax information

The information that we need in this step depends on the company type of your business.

If you are a sole trader, you need to provide your tax residency, your personal residential address and your BSN

If your company is a limited liability (B.V.) or partnership (V.O.F.), you need to provide the following information:

  • Your company’s RSIN or TIN
  • Your business classification:
    • Active non-financial entity (NFE): Company primarily engaged in trading goods or providing non-financial services.
    • Financial entity: Institution primarily dealing with financial transactions, banking, or investments.
    • Passive non-financial entity (NFE): Company earning 50% or more income from passive investments rather than active operations.
    • Other: such as non-profit organisation or government entity
  • If your company is a Passive NFE, you need to provide personal tax details about the controlling persons of your company. To comply with the tax regulations, we report this data to the tax authorities if a controlling person is a tax resident in another CRS country or is a U.S. person.

Step 3. Enter your anticipated usage of the business account

To get an idea of the anticipated usage of the Mollie business account, you need to provide an estimation of your yearly transaction volume, the countries you will send money to and a selection of how you will use the account.

Step 4. Collect the right signatures

This step is only relevant when you are not a solely authorised legal representative of your company. Your Mollie business account application needs to be signed by a legal representative who is legally to do that. In case the legal representatives of your company have joint authority or in case you are not a legal representative yourself, you need to collect the signatures of the authorised individuals.

  • Click Another Legal Representative is (also) required to sign
  • Select the names of the people that need to sign. You can select up to two legal representatives.
  • Download the Mandate of Delegation of Powers
  • Fill in the form and complete it with the signatures of the legal representatives
  • Upload the signed document
  • Upload the identification documents of the legal representative(s) that signed the document
  • Click Confirm
