What you need to know in advance
There are two ways to open a Mollie business account.
If you already have a Mollie account, you can start the setup of a Mollie business account through the Home page in your Mollie dashboard or mobile app. You will be required to complete the application process through the mobile app and also to set the Mollie mobile app as your 2FA method.
If you’re not using Mollie’s payment services yet, you need to create a Mollie account on our website first (how do I create an account?). If you are eligible for the Mollie business bank account, you will see the option to select the Mollie business account during this sign up process.

Download the app from an approved app store such as the Google play store or app store.
Am I eligible for the Mollie business account?
To set up a business bank account your business must be:
- based in the Netherlands
- registered as a sole trader, B.V. or V.O.F.
Note: the product will be gradually rolled out. You will be notified when it is available for your business. If you do not see the option, it means you are likely not (yet) eligible.
How do I set up a Mollie business account?
- Log in to your Mollie dashboard or mobile app.
- Go to the Home page. You will see the option to open a Mollie business account if you are eligible.
- Click Open account.
- Follow the steps to open the business bank account and provide the additional information. You will be required to reverify your identity, provide basic tax information and provide information about your anticipated usage of the business bank account.
- Once the steps are complete, you will see confirmation that your application has been completed.
How do I set up a Mollie business account when I don’t have a Mollie account yet?
- Create a Mollie account by signing up on our website
- After creating an account, you will find yourself on the Get started page of your Mollie Dashboard. Click the blue button that says Start setup to continue the sign up process.
- Follow the steps and enter all the information that is requested
- On the bank account step, you will see the option to open a Mollie business account if you are eligible.
- Select Mollie Business Account
- Follow the steps to open the business bank account and provide the additional information. You will be required to verify your identity, provide basic tax information and provide information about your anticipated usage of the business bank account.
- Once the steps are complete, you will see confirmation that your application has been completed.
When will Mollie review my request to create a business account?
Based on the information you provide during the account creation process, we might need more time to review the creation of your account. If this is the case, you will see the status we’re reviewing your info and you will be notified once our review is complete.
If we need further information from you in order to open your business account, we will reach out to you via email with details of the information we need.
