What is an ARN?
An Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) is a unique 23-digit identifier assigned to card refunds. This number is generated when a transaction moves from Mollie to the cardholder’s bank or card provider (the issuer). The ARN is crucial for tracking the status of refunds.
Why are ARN numbers important?
ARNs provide transparency and traceability for card refunds. With the ARN number, you can offer a better customer experience and reduce customer frustration.
If a customer asks about the status of their refund, providing them with the ARN will allow them to work with their bank or card provider to trace the transaction for all card charges.
Where do I find the ARN?
You can access the ARn for a card refund by following those steps:
- Log in to your Mollie Dashboard
- Go to Payments > Refunds
- Find the refund in the list or search for it using the description that was set for the payment.
- Click on the refund to access the transaction details and scroll down to the section "Refunds"
- Click on "View" in the ARN column
I do not see the column ARN, what does it mean?
ARN numbers are available for Visa, Mastercard and American Express refunds, including Apple Pay.
If the the ARN number is not available in the transaction details after 2 business days, please contact Support for help.
