Payment links create a shareable link or QR code that you can use to request payment for your product or services. Once opened, your customer is redirected to a checkout page to pay using one of the payment methods you offer on your account.
- You can send this URL or QR code to your customer or make it visible on your website.
- Creating a payment request is free. You only pay the standard transaction costs when your customer pays.
Creating a payment link
- In the menu bar, click on More and go to Payment links.
- Click on the Create button in the top right corner.
- Add a description, expiration date, and the amount you want to request.
- Click on Create.
- Share the link or QR code with your customer.
Once your customer clicks the link, they will be taken to a page to complete the payment.
- In the Mollie app, tap Request.
- Tap Create request.
-
Fill in the currency and amount you want to request. Set an expiry date.
- Optional: add a short description.
- If the payment applies to a different website, you can change it by tapping on the top of the screen.
- Tap Create to generate the QR code and payment link.
- Share the link or QR code with your customer.
Once your customer clicks the link or scans the QR code, they’ll be taken to a page to complete the payment.
Available payment methods
Your customers can use any of the available payment methods on your Mollie account except Klarna. When you create a payment link, the available payment methods are listed.
Expiration
When creating a payment link in your Mollie Dashboard, you can choose to send an open-ended request or set an expiry date. This feature is not available yet in the Mollie App.
- If you send an open-ended request, the QR code or link won’t expire until your customer pays the amount.
- If you set an expiration date, the QR code or link won’t work after that specified date.
For both options, the link or QR code will stop working once your customer pays the amount.
Good to know
You can also create a payment link through the Payment Links API. You can read more about this in our API documentation.
