Your invoice details your Mollie costs from the previous month and contains two sections:
- A summary of the previous month's fees
- A detailed specification of fixed and variable fees
1. Invoice
The first part of your invoice includes:
- Total amount excluding and including VAT
- Amount pre-settled: the amount automatically deducted from your Mollie balance. If you have multi-currency balances, you’ll also see the costs converted to your primary currency.
- Amount settled to balance (Invoice Compensation): the amount returned to your Mollie balance due to rounding differences.
- Amount due: the amount you need to pay for this invoice. Because of net settlement, in most cases the amount due will be zero.
2. Specification Section
The Specification section provides a breakdown of all costs, including turnover, fixed and variable rates, and total rounded amounts. If you have multi-currency balances, you’ll find a breakdown per currency.
Do I have to pay for the invoice?
Mollie typically deducts fees automatically from your balance as payments are received. This means that in most cases, your Mollie invoice is already paid by the time it is issued. If you need to pay the invoice, it will be stated on the invoice itself. In those cases, simply follow the payment instructions provided.
Good to know
Transparency on Rate Changes
If any rates change during the month, the invoice will clearly indicate how many times you were charged at the old rate and how many times at the new rate. This ensures complete transparency regarding any rate adjustments.
Rounding Differences & Invoice Compensation
Since we can’t charge amounts beyond two decimals, we round up your fees. If you pay too much at the end of the month, the excess is added to your Mollie balance as part of your next payout.
- Example: If you have a €0.3509 transaction fee (including VAT), we’ll charge €0.36 because we round the fee up. The (sum of) rounding differences is compensated back to you at the end of the month. You can find the amount returned (Invoice Compensation) in your invoice and in your reports.
VAT
The VAT information on your invoice varies based on your business's registration location:
-
The Netherlands: 21% VAT
- Applied to all customers residing in the Netherlands. It is also applied to European government bodies and European non-profit charities.
-
United Kingdom: 20% VAT
- Applied to all customers residing in the UK who signed up with Mollie LTD (Mollie’s branch in the UK).
-
Other EU Countries: Reverse-charge 0% VAT
- Applied to all European customers not registered in the Netherlands or in the United Kingdom (and under Mollie LTD).
- Non-EU Countries: No VAT Applied (0%)
