We check the VAT number you entered with the VIES, the database of the European tax authorities. If your VAT number is returned by VIES as invalid, it will be automatically rejected by Mollie. We’ll inform you via email.
Incorrect VAT number
There are several reasons why your VAT number might be rejected:
- Your VAT number is not yet activated for cross border transactions. Please contact the tax authorities.
- You recently received the VAT number from the Chamber of Commerce. It is not yet included in the tax registry. Please contact the tax authority to check when everything is in order.
- You recently registered your company at the Chamber of Commerce. It is not yet included in the European tax registry. Please try again later.
- You recently changed the company’s legal form. When doing so, you receive a new VAT number. Always use the most recent number.
