Per 1 March 2016, we have lowered our prices for a number of payment methods, including credit card. The reduction applies to the larger part of the credit card transactions we process. Where before we applied one fixed rate to all credit card transactions, we now distinguish between two types of transactions:
- Transactions originating from within the EU made with consumer (privately held) credit cards
- Transactions originating from outside the EU and business credit cards
The rates are as follows:
|Type of credit card transaction||Rate per transaction|
|Consumer card within the EU||1.8% + €0.25|
|Business card from inside or outside the EU||2.8% + €0.25|
Just like with all of our payment methods, the costs are charged at the moment that we pay out the outstanding balance. At that moment, we assess which type of credit card the consumers have used, so that we can calculate the transaction costs. The costs are then deducted from the payout.
There is a possibility that the products or services you sell are categorized as products or services with a higher risk. In that case, it is possible that we will charge you an additional risk charge in addition to the credit card rates. Examples are, for instance, products with a very long delivery time, or popular, expensive brand items.
