What are the conditions for the sale of alcohol?

As a payment services provider, we are obligated to supervise that our merchants uphold the law as applicable to the sector they are active in. This also applies to the sale of alcohol.

Not under 18

Dutch law stipulates that alcohol may not be sold to minors under the age of 18. If you are selling alcohol via a webshop, you are obligated to state this clearly on your website. For instance, in the form of the NIX18 logo, or by making visitors to the website fill out their date of birth. In addition, you are obligated to verify your consumer's age before making delivery.

Sale of liquor

To sell beverages with an alcohol percentage of 15% or higher, you need a liquor store license or a liquor and catering license. You will be asked to submit this license when you create a Mollie account. If you already have a Mollie account and want to start selling alcohol through your webshop, please fill out our contact form with your request and a copy of the relevant license.
